Description

Torn-Edge Vase
From the collection Beneath The Surface, this piece is sculpted by hand in paper clay and layered with hidden colour. Its surface breaks open in soft cracks, where glimpses of brightness reveal themselves slowly, like fragments of a story surfacing over time.

The torn edge feels alive — irregular, imperfect, and intentional. It speaks of fragility and strength existing side by side, of beauty found not in smoothness but in openness. Each layer carries the memory of reuse and renewal, paper once discarded now transformed into something quietly precious.

This vessel is a reminder to live gently, to allow our own colours to shine through the cracks, and to see wonder in what was once unseen.

Beneath The Surface is Ylva Marianne Borre’s first collection of vases in paper clay. Each piece is sculpted slowly, layered with colour, and shaped by hand into its own unique form. No two are ever alike — every vessel is one of a kind, carrying its own story of reuse, care, and quiet transformation.
